 SPRING TIME ACTIVITIES
We are looking forward to the many activities we do during spring term time.
We will be visiting Smithills farm to see the baby animals and digging in the garden, planting spring bulbs etc.
We will continue with swimming lessons, French lessons, music sessions with Frances and football lessons These are a real favourite with the children.

We are organising regular visits to Moss Bank Park, the woods and grounds around Smithills, Doffcocker Lodge and trips to the museum and library.

Within nursery we are busy ensuring we are up to date and keeping abreast of changes especially The Early Years Foundation Stage

Several staff members achieved qualifications during the last academic year. Tara and Sarah have been awarded NVQ level 3. Lauren and Kirsty are working towards level 3. Janine is working on a Foundation Degree, Lauren on a Level 4 and Lois has been successful with the completion of her Foundation Degree and is now doing a top-up course. Joyce has been awarded Early Years Professional Status, a new qualification for Early Years graduates.

Many staff have attended training sessions in Basic Food Hygiene, first aid, and courses to improve knowledge and practice in the nursery. We have all been training to ensure a good learning environment both indoors and outdoors. This is presently a focus for the whole nursery.
Recently most of the team attended a brilliant training session 'Listening to Children' on a Saturday morning. Thank you so much. It shows real commitment to the job.
OUTSIDE PLAY
During the next few months we are planning to improve our outside play area. We are hoping to create some quiet places, create sensory areas, a safe area for very young children and improve storage for bikes etc. Before the summer we will be aiming to create more shade.
Staff will be having a training day on Saturday 10th April to improve their knowledge and understanding of quality outdoor provision.
If you would like to help us in any way or have some good ideas they will be very gratefully received.
